STELLENBOSCH WINE ROUTE
When planning a visit in… or to… South Africa, being a local or foreign traveler, history have indicated that 4 major destinations would come to mind.
Cape Town and the Western Cape, including the Stellenbosch Wine Route and the Garden Route. Further north in our beautiful country the Kruger National Park and surroundings will be the stand-out.
The Stellenbosch Wine Route was founded in 1971 by three inventive wine farmers from the region. Frans Malan (Simonsig), Neil Joubert (Spier) and Spatz Sperling (Delheim) were mainly instrumental to put Stellenbosch on the global wine map, and is today recognized as being a foremost leader in wine tourism!
Our goal is to assist the visitor to STELLENBOSCH in optimal time-planning to enjoy some of the best wine experiences, scenic drives, culture and history that we have to offer!
You will need to add the driving time from Cape Town ( 45 -60 min ). It is important not to rush…. therefore 3 – 4 visits to wine estates are recommended. Bearing in mind that we have more than 200 wine farms in the Stellenbosch region you will need to come back again and possibly stay over in the excellent hotels and guest houses available in Stellenbosch! We will also assist in recommending capable transfer companies and tour guides. To UBER from Cape Town is also getting more and more popular and the guests will be met by the tour guide with own transport at a specific wine estate where the tour will start.
The Stellenbosch Wine Route is divided into 5 sub regions and considering the time at your disposal it will be wise to concentrate on one of the regions at a time. The internet will help when you google some of the farms listed below and then plan your itinerary. If you use the services of a tourist guide his/hers knowledge will be very useful as well.
We believe that if your visit the Stellenbosch Wine Estates as a one-time experience, allow some time to drive through the 2nd oldest town in South Africa.
