Driving from Gordons Bay via Clarence Drive ( currently under repair due to floods ; stop and go….6 stops between Gordons Bay and Kleinmond ) will see you experiencing the Coast of Flowers. The exotic Cape Floral Kingdom (“Fynbos” ) is in abundance, and with the Atlantic Ocean on your right is a picture that will always remain imprinted in your mind!

Another way to drive to Hermanus is via the N2 over Sir Lowry’s Pass. A very popular outdoor experience is zip-lining in Grabouw with the Canopy Tours Company.
From Hermanus you can drive to Stanford and turn-off towards the sea and visit Springfontein Wine Estate……exquisite wines and accommodation.
One of the animal rehabilitation projects that we envisage to support, Panthera Africa, is also close-by. The affection and care transmitted to the big cats by the owners and volunteers is really heartwarming……..

Along the route you may whish to enjoy a wine tasting at Baleia Wines near Riversdale, with excellent wines and olive oil grown and crafted on the South Coast of South Africa. Visit Indalu just off the N2, about 35 km before Mossel Bay. Here you can do an elephant walk and view other wild life. From personal experience this experience and accommodation ( 2 x cottages ) can be highly recommended!

Your actual Garden Route trip now begins from Mossel Bay and will see you pass through the towns of Klein & Groot Brak River, George, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Keurbooms River and Storms River in the Tsitsikamma Forest. We will in due course update our recommendations re accommodation and activities along this route after negotiations with various tour and travel institutions.
You will now exit the Garden Route at Storms River on your way to Addo Elephant Park and Port Elizabeth.
